About Kōryaku

Kōryaku (攻略, “walkthrough”) is an unofficial companion for AniList’s Anime Watching Challenge and Manga Reading Challenge. It is not affiliated with AniList or the AWC staff.

What Kōryaku does

Kōryaku keeps a catalog of every AWC and MRC challenge (181 open right now), tracks your progress on each requirement from your AniList list, suggests titles that fit the slots you still have open, and writes the challenge code you post on the thread.

Where the data comes from

Challenges come from the two official index posts, the AWC anime index and the MRC manga index, and from new threads posted by the AWC account. Kōryaku checks them every 30 minutes through the public AniList API and re-reads a thread when it changes. Anime and manga details (formats, tags, episode counts, air dates) also come from AniList.

How requirements are checked

Each requirement line is matched against a library of rule patterns: formats, genres, tags with their rank, episode and chapter counts, durations, seasons and years, studios, countries and closed title lists. Lines the rules fully understand become automatic checks. Lines that need your input are assisted, and anything that only a person can judge is manual: Kōryaku tracks it but gives no verdict.

Some threads publish their requirements as images or only in the code document. Those are flagged for review and the challenge page says so. The thread is always the source of truth, and every verdict shows its evidence so you can check it yourself.

What Kōryaku stores

You sign in with AniList; Kōryaku never sees or stores a password. It keeps your AniList id, name and avatar, a copy of your list entries so it can check requirements, and your challenge entries. Your AniList access token is stored encrypted and is only used to read your list and, when you ask, to add a title to your Planning list or post your entry code.

An email address is optional and only used for the notifications you turn on in settings.

Challenge data belongs to its authors, the AWC and MRC staff, and is read through the public AniList API. Anime and manga metadata is from AniList. Read the guide for how the challenges themselves work.
